Thanks for all the support that you showed during last week’s ride, as tribute to the victims of typhoon Yolanda. We all need to look after our countrymen at times when they need even just the rawest of support from people who wish to help in their own ways.

Last week’s ride was awesome… and now, It’s time for the next cruise!

Join us in Tindak Sugbo Season 2 Suroy sa Pantalan: Connecting Islands. We celebrate the connectedness of the Philippines and the solidarity of the Filipinos, despite the distances between its thousands of islands, and we celebrate the waters of the Philippine seas!

And because this Sunday is Mother’s Day, let’s start the day by honoring Mother Earth, the mother of all mothers, with a ride to promote a healthy world. Let’s ride our bikes to provide a healthy future for the next generations, just like how our own mothers worked hard to let us experience the future that’s best for us.

Be at the Mayflower Inn on Sunday, May 11, 2014 for another cruise along the streets of Cebu! Meetup is at 6AM in the morning, with free lugaw as usual.

Oh, and there’s free ice cream after the ride, as promised! See you!

Pantalans do not merely bridge the gaps between islands, but they also serve as reminders that the Philippines as an archipelago is prone to typhoons and other calamities. With this in mind, we must strive to keep our planet healthy to avoid bearing the brunt of the disasters caused by our own activities. As Thích Nhất Hạnh, a Vietnamese Zen Buddhist monk, teacher, author, poet and peace activist, said, “Mother Earth is not just your environment. She is not outside of you. You carry Mother Earth within you.” Let us bike and occupy the streets, not just because it’s fun but because it paves the way to a better future.
